It is idle to argue about what 'the most beautiful city in the world' is. But you should not contradict the voices that insist on Isfahan.
So much green! If no park adjoins, the streets are lined with trees, preferably with a rich green strip between the lanes.
And then, of course, this place in the heart: the Naqsh-e-Jahan Square! Of course World Heritage Site (like almost everything here), more than half a kilometer long. No picky 'do not step on the grass', but a public park to picnic and chat. Of course, only when the sun starts to sink. And the buildings!
Today in the program, in a leisurely pace, but still a crass amount of input:
the style-forming Friday mosque,
the Sheik Lotfollah mosque with probably the most beautiful prayer hall in this universe,
the Imam Mosque with the probably most reverberant prayer hall of the universe (and all a dream in blue tones) and afterwards the
Palaces Ali Qapu (overlooking the large square) and Chehel Sotun (the pleasure palace with garden). Uff, great!
Since the day after was still young, off to the river. Well, dried up for years, hmm. Nevertheless, beautiful bridges lead over. For example, the Khaju Bridge.
Since the atmosphere is also right: Isfahan can really do something.
The day before a three-way taxi ride from Kashan to Isfahan, with a detour to Abyaneh, a famous (tourist) village high in the mountains. The photos are not so good, but the atmosphere was great and it was great fun for us to scramble through the mountains and the day for about two hours!
