There are over 2000 pagodas in Bagan, many of them up to 1000 years old. Whether for historical reasons or to see Buddhism in action ... Visiting the pagodas is THE national sport of every Myanmar traveler!
The mostly red brick buildings in the lush green landscape create a pleasant peaceful atmosphere. Especially beautiful at sunrise and sunset. The lazy book then a balloon ride, the rest climbs half empty on a pagoda somewhere in nowhere and enjoys a long time the game of colors.
But the main fun of pagoda shopping is to do it all on an electric scooter! This way, you can heat your way silently through the landscape and recover from the over 30 degrees thanks to the wind.
Culinary highlight: salads! Whether the local ginger salad or avocado salad with tomatoes, chopped peanuts and a splash of lime ... delicious!
In the pictures: Pagodas in red and gold, Buddha with Buddha and the beautiful green in between!
