Yushan, the Jade Mountain

Although Yushan, the highest mountain in Taiwan (and second highest mountain in East Asia after Kinabalu), was not the main reason for my trip to Taiwan, I knew it would be a highlight of my trip. And that has the Yushan managed quite wonderful!

Everything about the tour was a pleasure: the exceptionally competent organization on the part of the National Park Authority (permits, cabin bookings etc), the weather and my two mountain cronies Natalie (Chiang Mai) and Lee (Shanghai). We met in the evening before the two-day tour in the valley (that is to say at 2600 meters) and then spent almost 48 hours together.

The best of course: nature. The ascent is rather easy, but you can enjoy every meter of the way wonderful. The trails are 90% natural (without stairs and so). Almost all the time you have fantastic views and may admire azaleas (thank you in the Wackerfelder way for this info) and huge hemlocks!

Unfortunately it stormed at sunrise on the summit, but as it was, it was almost more beautiful than another perfect sunrise!
The clouds have swept over us, have formed beautiful mountains and the red sun, which broke again and again through the clouds on the horizon, as well as the bright blue morning sky, have ensured a play of colors that the cell phone camera with the usual # nofilter photos only in Can play back approaches! It's freezing cold, but it's very nice!

In the two days on the mountain I took the West Peak and the North Peak (great views of the Main Peak!). Conditionally and muscular, this seems to me now no longer make out. Unfortunately, the hiking fitness has nothing to do with the Ultimate Fitness (I know from painful experience), so it brings me unfortunately, unfortunately nothing

Yushan: 10 out of 10, clear recommendation! For that alone, Taiwan has been worth it ... What's coming is bonus ...

(Bonus also the mountain cronies photo "China Style")
