The wild West

... starts right behind Hamburg. But often not.

The Tasmanian West is in any case of such wild beauty that even driving a car is so much fun ... sometimes gentle curves and waves, sometimes serpentines, sometimes dense jungle, sometimes alpine pastures like advertising ... You do not want to drive fast, everything shines like that a sublime nature calm.

Once you get used to the amounts of "roadkill". Depending on the section, there is a torn wallaby on the street every three kilometers (the birds take care of it). Do you have to abkannen.

I made my round through some national parks in the west: the Franklin Gordon Wild Rivers NP, especially the Cradle Mountain Lake St Clair NP, completed by a cave visit to the Mole Creek Karst NP.
Of course, despite the road trip, especially on foot.

One day I was finally able to get acquainted with an anteater (Echidna, on one of the photos). They are only available in Australia and New Guinea. Together with the closest relatives, the platypus (Platypus, also only in Australia), the only mammals that lay eggs. All others are extinct. And the anteater mating behavior is a sensation!

On another day, I let myself be surprised by Cradle Mountain. Sensational landscape or not (you always discover a lake, although you think you would have seen so slowly) ... but the last few kilometers to the summit, it's all about huge boulders (see photos)! A wonderful balancing act ... For the requirement term "sure-footedness" was invented!

Bonus pictures in the end are from my camping spots. Time with tent, sometimes only the view, sometimes with dinner. Wild, so without showers, toilets, anything, but all officially ... probably. All very picturesque. And with an attentive wombat in the nearby hole (the last picture is the search picture). Also an exciting animal: the shit dice! (I leave it at that.)
