Yangon

Finally we made it ... to the capital of Myanmar, to Yangon!
I was absolutely surprised how relaxed Yangon is - after all, a city with over 7 million inhabitants!

The tourist highlight is the Shwedagon Pagoda, one of the most important Buddhist pilgrimage sites. Insofar pickepackevoll with tourists from other parts of the country or from neighboring countries. Since the tourists from completely different cultures are of little importance - and then attract all the more. Our digital photo footprint has grown quite a bit ...

The pagoda (which, of course, scores dozens more on its platform) is really impressive. The 99 meter high main pagoda is gilded with just under 10 tons of gold! Every three years, this is renewed ... Obviously, it is just that time again (since in large part scaffolded). There are also several thousand diamonds with which the lace is decorated.
In any case, the atmosphere was very nice due to the many visitors who pray there or have a picnic chill!

Unfortunately, the farewell of Marieke on the time in Yangon, quite stupid after 18 days together travel.

Today with the photos just a few impressions of the Shwedagon Pagoda. Including some cool Nats (these are the spirits that have been 'integrated' into the religion) and a few bonus Nats from Mawlamyaing (a city we stayed in when traveling to Yangon).
