Attention, in this article there are stories and pictures of cats! (Catcontent should still be the clicker, I'll check that.)
But only later.
We landed in Nyaung Shwe on Inle Lake. The local Inthas either live on tourism (and related activities such as weaving and silversmithing) or on agriculture.
Which is rather water management, at least fishing, but also the cultivation of vegetables, etc. Since the Inthas live more than in AM water, they have created over the last half century floating gardens of enormous proportions. Impressive!
The Inthas are known for rowing their crazy style. They usually stand at the bow and serve the rudder with one leg. If they are still fishing, they will conveniently have both hands free.
Unfortunately, I only have photos in which fishermen balance clownesk (they kindly like doing that when tourists swim past). That does not look so strange. But basically they are already one-legged on their boats!
It's funny to see them balancing so well, while as a tourist jerk, sitting in a seat is scared to topple out of the small dinghies!
So what you do when you are there:
- Boating and watching without end, in between silversmiths, weaving (lotus flower yarn!) Visit and pagodas
- Bicycle tours
- Food and drink (wine is grown, but there is still room for improvement)
- visit a cat village. That's why I attached some bonus cat photos. They are not even great (I was mainly busy with caresses), but, HEY, they are cat photos !!! For dog lovers is also a ratings image.
(Also: a Lotus weaver, the stupa fields of Inndein, villages in the lake)
